CAJUN SPICE MIX

CAJUN+SPICE+MIX1+CREATING+HEALTHY+TIMES.jpg

Living in New Orleans for six years opened a whole new culinary world to me. Southern food is known for its intense and hot flavors that are unique for the area. This Cajun spice mix combines well with seafood, crawfish, barbecued meat, or stews such as gumbo and jambalaya. You can buy high-quality ground spices at whole foods stores or grind them yourself for even more flavor. Make sure to store the spice mix in an airtight container in a cool and dark place.

INGREDIENTS
5 tbsp real salt (if you prefer using a moist salt such as Celtic sea salt, make sure to use the spice mix within a couple of days)
2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp sweet paprika
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tbsp dried thyme
1 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp cayenne pepper (1 tbsp if you prefer it really spicy)

INSTRUCTIONS
Add all of the ingredients to a container with an airtight lid. Close the lid and shake well. Store at room temperature.
